Subject: [telecom-ms] Nominating Enrico Ronco for the OASIS Telecom Member Section Steering Committee 'Special Election'

All,

I would like to Nominate Enrico Ronco (Telecom Italia) for the SC
position.
Enrico brings us a wealth of experience in this area and he will be a
great resource for the Steering Committee.

Enrico, I hope that you accept the nomination.

Regards
Abbie

Committee 'Special Election' Schedule

Hi Abbie,
Good question. If you look at the Telecom RoP, please see 'For
consistency of management, terms will be staggered so that four seats
expire one year and the other three expire the following year.' The seat
being replaced is a 'one year' seat. If that seat was made into a two
year seat, we would have 5 Steering Committee members serving 2 year
terms and 2 Steering Committee members serving for one year -- that is
in conflict with the RoP. This seat will serve until April 2009, at
which time, 3 seats will be open for election serving a two year term
each. I hope this clarifies your concern.
Regards,
Dee

Subject: [telecom-ms] OASIS Telecom Member Section Steering Committee
'Special Election' Schedule

OASIS Telecom Member Section Members,

One seat on the OASIS Telecom Member Section Steering Committee (SC) is
now open for nomination and election. The current SC consists of six
members and does not comply with the Rules of Procedure, 'The SC shall
consist of seven members,' http://www.oasis-telecom.org/RoP, therefore,
a
Special Election will be held.

The Member Section will nominate and elect 'one' Steering Committee
Member to serve a 'one' year term.

The nomination and election procedures for the Steering Committee
members is defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [1] and the
Telecom Member Section Rules of Procedure [2]. Any Telecom participant
may nominate or be nominated as a candidate for the Steering Committee.
(Any OASIS member may join the Telecom MS at no additional cost [3].)

Each Telecom Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the
single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise
designated, the organization's Primary Representative serves as the
Qualified Elector.

***Please note, if you are the Primary Representative for your
organization and unable to vote during the designated time period,
please defer the voting member role to another employee member by
sending an email to member-services@oasis-open.org, any such change
should be in place before the ballot is cast.***

NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE

Nominations will be open 31-July-2008 through 14-August-2008.

The election will be held 14-August-2008 through 28-August-2008.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Any Telecom MS participant may nominate a candidate via email to:
nominations@oasis-open.org.

Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must:

1. Accept the nomination;

2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position
(participation in a teleconference bi-monthly, additional support
activities as needed);

3. Provide background information and a position statement describing
his/her qualifications and motivations for serving on the Steering
Committee; and

4. Be a participant in the Telecom Member Section.

ELECTION PROCESS

The 'one' new Steering Committee members will be selected by the Telecom
Qualified Electors, using the Single Transferable Voting (STV) process -
Scottish Method [4]. STV considers each voter's ranked preference for
candidates, in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the
electorate. Results will be announced immediately after they are
tabulated and confirmed.

We encourage all Telecom MS participants to consider serving on the
Steering Committee. Please contact member-services@oasis-open.org with
any questions you might have regarding this process.
