Subject: RE: [tgf] FW: New discussion New project on Paneuropean Open Gov Data
John: I think that this is a subject of growing importance and concern: - Importance, because everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and very taken by TimBL’s “five star” approach; - Concern, because in all the haste to “let the data free”, there has been scant reflection about data quality, provenance, context, privacy or suitability. These are clearly issues that any politician worth his/her salt is going to want to be seen to support and be active in promoting and there is a very real danger that deeper concerns are not addressed. This would seem to be a perfect issue for the eGov Member Section; I’m less sure how it fits – except tangentially – with the TGF TC’s mission… Regards, Peter From: John Borras [mailto:johnaborras@yahoo.co.uk] Hi All Any views on whether and how we should play into this new project?
