[tm-pubsubj] OASIS now has liaison with SC34

The proposal for OASIS to have Category A liaison with ISO/IEC JTC1/SC34 has
been accepted by JTC1, so now OASIS can send a delegation to any SC34
activity. (This is the same sort of relationship ISUG has had for many
years.) OASIS has, in return, given SC34 a voting membership in OASIS.

Further announcements will be coming out from OASIS when we get a press
release completed.

For the present, Karl Best is the point of contact on the OASIS side and I
am the SC34 contact. 

In practical terms, this means that OASIS members (meaning, in particular,
the members of the TopicMaps.org and Published Subjects groups) can be
certified to attend SC34 meetings. The next SC34 Plenary will be in
Barcelona at XML Europe 2001. If you are interested in joining the OASIS
delegation, please contact Karl.
