Subject: [xtm-wg] arrangements: meeting of XTM authoring group

To PARTICIPATING MEMBERS OF THE AUTHORING GROUP:

Thanks to the organizational efforts of Janet Kieffer and Jared
Williams of Epremis Corporation, and the sponsorship of Epremis
Corporation and (we think) ISOGEN/DataChannel, the meeting of November
9-12, 2000 in Dallas, Texas, USA will take place at

  Radisson Hotel - Central Dallas
  6060 North Central Expressway
  Dallas, Texas 75206 USA
  +1 800 333 3333 or +1 214 750 6060

When you reserve your room, mention "Epremis Corporation" for the
special low rate of USD $119 plus tax, double or single. Breakfast is
not included in this rate.

If that's too much money for you, there is another hotel, not within
easy walking distance of the Radisson, but pretty close, and
reportedly offering decent accommodations:

  DoubleTree Dallas Campbell Center
  8250 North Central Expressway
  Dallas, Texas 75206
  +1 800 222 8733
USD $84 plus tax. I don't think it includes breakfast, either.

If you arrive at Love Field (probably because you are flying on
Southwest Airlines), the Radisson Hotel can provide you with shuttle
service to itself. Call the Radisson for information when you arrive
at the airport, which is only five miles away.

It is more likely that you will arrive at Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW)
airport, which is 25 miles or so from downtown Dallas. In that case,
you will need to provide for your own transportation to the hotel.
You can take a taxi, which is kind of expensive (I going to guess
about $45), or you can take a "Shared Ride", which is basically a van
that usually picks up at least three people before leaving the
airport. The Shared Ride services are less expensive than taxis. In
the airport, there are free phones in the baggage claim areas that you
can use to call for a shared ride; the services are variously known as
"Super Shuttle", "Discount Shuttle", etc. They are all pretty much
the same. Be ready to tell them which terminal you're in. DFW is a
Texas-sized airport.

Welcome to Dallas!

Due to budget constraints, we cannot provide lunches during this
particular meeting. However, I'm thinking that we may be able to have
lunch brought in if we all agree to share the cost; we'll discuss that
as our first item of business on Friday morning. If we don't decide
to do that, it's not a problem; there is a restaurant in the hotel and
I'm told there is other food within walking distance.

This meeting will be intense. As usual, be prepared to work hard and
have fun.

-Steve
