Subject: Re: [xtm-wg] ANNOUNCE: Update of TopicMaps.Org XTM Repository of 2001-02-01
After throughout reading, I come out with some minor points and typos : ------------------------------------------------------ 2.Concepts "A topic map captures the subjects of which resources speak, and the relationships between *resources*, in a way that is implementation-independent." The second *resources* should read *subjects* IMO ------------------------------------------------------ (Same section) "A topic is a resource within the computer that stands in for (or "reifies") some *real-world* subject." *real-world* seems unuseful there, and somehow could be misleading. If the subject is e.g. a (reified) association in a topic map, is it what most people will understand as a "real-world" subject ? Same remark for the two other occurrences of *real-world* that IMO we should get rid of altogether : 2.1: "Because associations express relationships between *real-world* subjects they are inherently multidirectional" 3.6.2 : "The <subjectIdentity> element specifies the *real-world* subject that is expressed by its parent <topic> element." ------------------------------------------------------ 2.2.1.2 Reification "The only means whereby it is possible to *say anything at all* in a topic map is to create a topic and then assign characteristics to it." ... maybe ambiguous ... creating an association is also a way to "say something". Suggestion : delete. ------------------------------------------------------ 2.2.4.1 Member "A member is a topic (or set of topics) that plays a particular role in an association." *set of topics* ? Howzat ? ------------------------------------------------------ Conceptual Model B.5 "A Scope is set of Topics ..." should read "A Scope is *a* set of Topics ..." ------------------------------------------------------ F.7 Reification operations "... When such reification has *taken* a client of the XTM processor should be able to access and add properties ..." *taken* should read *taken place* ------------------------------------------------------ Annex H: Acknowledgements Is the "invited guests" list updated ? :o)) ------------------------------------------------------ Bravo et bon courage !
