Subject: [xtm-wg] Feedback on Processing Requirements F3.2
F.3.2 Equivalence of <instanceOf> and <association> contains that is an XTM Error when: The Class role is played by a topic with an addressable subject. I interpret that a topic with an addressable subject is considered a concrete topic which can not play the abstract Class role in a Class-Instance association. I don't find this necessary. A topic representing the Human concept can have an addressable subject in a comprehensive ontology. But, that does prevent the topic being used as an abstract meaning in a topic map. I think that being abstract in the semantics of Topic Map and being abstract in the semantics of the knowledge represented be a topic maps are TWO different things. Even if a topic does not have a addressable subject indicator, it still has an implied Subject. I don't think that subject indication has anything to do with inheritance. So, I think that a topic can play the role of Class in a Class-Instance association regardless if it contains a addressable subject or not. Best regards, -- Luis J.
