There has been a lot of discussion surrounding the use of UML, and various models have been created. If you take a look at Annex B of the XTM 1.0 Specification [CM] you'll find UML diagrams. These are the end product of the Conceptual Modelling subgroup of the TopicMaps.Org Authoring Group, the organization that wrote the XTM spec. Murray [CM] XTM 1.0 Annex B.
