It depends on what you mean?  Do you mean to model topic map data as
relational tables, or do you mean to store topics, associations,
occurrences, etc. in a relational database?

I'll just address the first of these, since it's usually the second that
people talk about and there should be more information out there.  NEXIST is
an example where the topic map is stored in a relational database.

An association would map to a row in a table,and each role would map to a
column in the role.  Of course, this would only make sense if there were
many associations built to the same template.  This leaves open three
points:

1) How to determine the primary key of the table
2) How to handle multiple role-playing topics with the same role
3) How much normalization to apply
