That is a very relevant question, and your suggestion is correct, but we also have some problem here:

In a node type derivation there will be a interface refinement, with a parameter refinement.
In an interface derivation there will be also a parameter refinement.

So we have a potential conflict of the two above. I will prepare a TOSCA template example as an input for a further discussion on this (here on mail and in the WG).

TOSCA v2.0 csd03 section 4.4.11.3 states that the type definition must be derived from the type in the parent type definition.

When parameter definition is used in a node type definition to map an interface operation output to a node attribute there is no parent type definition. However in this case a type definition in the parameter definition must match the type definition if one exists the operation type definition.
