Subject: 2015-01-19 Interop. SC Mtg Minutes

Attendees: Shitao, Richard, Derek, John, Juergen, Matt
Regrets: Paul
Acknowledgements: Don Deel (NetApp) requests to join will attend starting next week

- Matt: Noted that since Paul is not here any updates on OSCON 2015 will not be available. However, OSCON is still the target and we expect to get a "handshake" from them to OASIS staff soon and indicate where (what track) we could be part of to better allow us to tailor our message, any slides and a demo.
- Shitao: Asked if we spoken about specific scenarios (for interop) yet as we would need to start lining up development.
- Matt: My personal opinion would be showing a portable TOSCA template that showcases networking (public/private tiers) with storage and perhaps allows for a scalable tier.
- Derek: indicated that we might open up alot of questions if we suggest monitoring is part of even if we found a simple way to show scaling. Noted that most providers scaling is assummed, yet the ability model it in an infra.-neutral way was still interesting.
- John: John lead us in a a discussion that validated interop. SC's "scope" of "interop" to be tied to current spec. with emphasis on "portabilty" against a compelling template/workload that showcased our advancements from last interop. yet allows us to describe our current/future plans (e.g. monitoring and containers) and permits participants to provide other opportunities to show advanced or other demos.
Matt: Matt ind
Matt: Matt asks that we all submit via email list or bring next week our company variant ideas for our target demo/workload for OSCON, but also re-iterated our consensus from past "interops" that we want to focus on "portability" of TOSCA apps/workloads and create a single compelling workload/demo that showcases new areas of the spec. (since last interop. which would include networking and storage).
Matt: Matt expressed interest in the recent use case implementation that i "N-tier" monitoring which has has public/private tiers and allows for future inclusion of scaling (even load balancing). Matt also points out that it uses new apps (from past demos) that people might want to see (e.g., Nginx, Logstash, Kibana, etc.) and uses Ubuntu.
Matt: The above is his opinion, yet to be discussed with IBM team.
Derek: Derek asks we call it other than "monitoring" as it is NOT what TOSCA will call monitoring. Matt agreed to call it "N-tier logging" use case.
John: indicated it would be nice to allow for companies to showcase capabilities beyond strict use case selected; Matt agreed and said we have found ways to do this in the past and was open to new members (like MS) to join TC and always works to identify new members seeking similar goals.
Derek: Indicated the demo, at this point, would be mainly companies attending this Interop. SC call and not realistic to expect additional companies.
Matt: Please think ahead to becoming a (co) leader of OSCON in July (week of 20th?) in Portland as we want new people to take that role.
