Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (TOSCA-17) Packaging Format for TOSCA

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/TOSCA-17?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=30569#action_30569 ]

Derek Palma commented on TOSCA-17:
----------------------------------

One of the issues brought up in the TC call was that TOSCA is probably better not to be inclined towards any platform specific archive format. In order to remove the J2EE-isms, we could do away with the META-INF/MANIFEST.MF approach and just use or JSON or YAML encoding and place the metadata file(s) in known locations. These can be parsed by virtually any language and are more expressive.

> Specifying a cloud application requires a number of different artifacts. In order to allow self-contained definitions of cloud applications a packaging format is needed that contains all the artifacts making up a manageable cloud application.
