Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (TOSCA-114) Composite Capabilities and Requirements

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/TOSCA-114?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=33881#action_33881 ]

Travis Tripp commented on TOSCA-114:

Actually, I just presented some TOSCA concepts to people and when discussing requirements and capabilities using LAMP as the example (4 different capabilities). They asked about VM images and asked if it would be possible to just have a Capability of LAMP that was an aggregate of distinct capabilities. This way they could just say that a VM image has the capability of LAMP rather than have to associate each of the capabilities independently.

> As a designer, I should be able to create a Composite Requirement/Capabaility such as a LAMP stack. That provides/requires a set of component requrements: Linux, Apche, MySQL, PHP.
> When a platform is stood up from a image, it may provide all of these capabilities.
> When designing a application it is also desirable to create the relationship on a LAMP stack and not have to create all of the relationships.
> It is common practice software components are grouped together and integration tested as a single unit. ie. This specific combination of components is tested and proven to work well together.
