OASIS and the Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA) are planning to host an informal roundtable discussion on standards to support Information as a Service requirements for cloud and Big Data. Open to anyone interested in the topic, the call will be an opportunity for:
- ODCA Data Services
Working Group to provide an overview of
their white paper, "ODCA Master Usage Model: Information as a Service" (see excerpt below);
- OASIS members to provide
brief
updates on their work in relation to the topic;
- ODCA and OASIS members to discuss possible areas of collaboration
(if any)
and next steps.
If you're interested in being part of this conversation, please let me
know. We'd like to schedule the call for early October at a time convenient
for as many people as possible.

Excerpt from Executive Summary of ODCA InfoaaS white paper:
"The combination of Big Data (driven in part by
mobility and social media) and cloud computing is exponentially
expanding the amount and types of available data while at the same time
growing business demand for near real-time information is compressing
the time available to process and use that data. [This document]
explores the overall information architecture required for Information
as a Service implementation, and what aspects of that information
architecture can be enhanced by Big Data, mobile applications, and cloud
computing technologies. Specific aspects of Information as a Service
covered in this document include data management, tools and technology
that support Information as a Service, governance, and service delivery
architecture...."
