Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (TOSCA-247) Need description of abstract/subst. node types and application of node_filters

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/TOSCA-247?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=59761#comment-59761 ]

Luca Gioppo commented on TOSCA-247:
-----------------------------------

I agree we need to be able to specify a node that the orchestrator does not have to create, but can recover its attributes because it can find it in the environment like the monitoring server for example.

The node could just state the hostname that is easy to find so that all the other nodes can have something to refer to or better could refer to the output of another template and the orchestrator should check if for that environment it has already deployed that template etc.

But we could also easily go on with one more input field and ignore the monitoring server node.

> Luc: either it is provided (an implementation) or it is not (abstract) and how does the orchestrator or platform go about finding one.
