Subject: RE: TM&E Proposed Conference Abstracts

Hi TOSCA-teers,

A slight correction in one abstract. Again, Jeremy and Lowell have asked me to post these recommended abstracts for your consideration and approval this week. The idea is that the Ad Hoc will be empowered to leverage these abstracts for future conferences, making appropriate variants, as needed. Expect a motion in support of this.

General Tosca Talk

Title: Meet TOSCA, the Hot New Standard on the Block!

Short Version (will be used for Open Networking Summit, too):

OASIS TOSCA (Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications) is hot! Join us to find out why open source projects such as OpenStack, Alien4Cloud, Aria, and others are joining many leading independent software vendors and cloud providers in using the TOSCA open standard to define, deploy, manage and administer their cloud applications across a broad range of cloud platforms and technologies, such as OpenStack, Kubernetes, and Docker.  Come learn the TOSCA basics and understand the benefits of using TOSCA as a higher level of abstraction for your cloud solutions.

Long Version (will be used for Open Networking Summit, too):

OASIS TOSCA (Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications) is hot! The OASIS TOSCA TC works to enhance the portability and lifecycle management of cloud applications and services. TOSCA is an open standard that enables the interoperable description and orchestration of application and infrastructure cloud services, taking into account the relationships between parts of the service, and the operational behavior of these services (e.g., deploy, patch, shutdown) -- independent of any particular supplier creating the service, any cloud provider, hosting environment, container type, or container orchestration technology, e.g., Kubernetes or Swarm. TOSCA Simple Profiles, e.g., for YAML and NFV make it easy to expand use TOSCA in the latest cloud environments.

Network Specific Talk

Title: Using TOSCA to model your network services
Short Version (will be used for Open Networking Summit, too):

NFV is the hot new topic in telecom. Since telecom architectures are quite complex, it is very important that the orchestration of the various VNFs and components is executed in a standardized manner that is portable to any infrastructure. OASIS TOSCA (Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications) is an open standard domain specific language, with profiles based on popular languages such as YAML, that describes the topology of cloud based services, their components, relationships, and management processes. In this talk, we will explain how TOSCA can be used to model any VNF and network service and its components in a multi-VIM environment and present various TOSCA use cases being implemented in the real world.

Just an example of a possible, future modification of wording (not considered by TM&E yet):

Subject: TM&E Proposed Conference Abstracts

Hi TOSCA-teers,

Jeremy  and Lowell have asked me to post these recommended abstracts for your consideration and approval this week. The idea is that the Ad Hoc will be empowered to leverage these abstracts in various form for future conferences, as well.
