Clear English-language summary of the specification:
This specification aims to provide a more accessible syntax as well as a more
concise and incremental expressiveness of the TOSCA DSL (Domain Specific
Language). The intent is to minimize the learning curve and speed adoption
for
those using TOSCA to portably describe cloud applications.

YAML is a human friendly data serialization standard with a syntax much
easier
to read and edit than XML. The specification prescribes an isomorphic
rendering
of a subset of TOSCA to ensure that semantics are preserved and can be
transformed from XML to YAML and from YAML to XML.
Relationship of this specification to similar work: There is no direct
relationship between this work and other work, although there are no doubt a
number of applications in other domains, e.g., Network Function
Virtualization
(NFV), which the TOSCA TC is already exploring.
