Subject: FW: UDDI Assistance - RE: [trans-ws] Groups - Tran- WS TC meeting modified

Here is what Luc Clément, TC UDDI secretary, recommends.

1. Read the document WSDL into UDDI registry.

2. Identify how this impacts us.

3. Determine a course of action.

Cheers,

-Gérard

Gérard,

You'll find that in order to properly (from the perspective of reuse) register your interface definitions, you will have to decompose your WSDL, model the registration, create a set of tModels and most likely will require a value set tModel for  use in categorization. In short, while registering a tModel is very simple, modeling it correctly is a bit more work.

I suggest that you read the "Using WSDL in a UDDI Registry, Version 2" (http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/uddi-spec/doc/tns.htm#WSDLTNV2).

I think you (the TC) should consider this modeling approach as it will pay off in terms of reuse.

Hope this helps.

Luc

Thanks for offering your time.

We were looking at a simple faq that tells where to register a tmodel document, etc. So implementers of the service know where to go and what to do. Is there such a thing?

Cheers,

-Gérard

Gérard,

( J'écris en anglais au cas que vous voudriez courrieller les membres du «TC Trans-WS». )

Anne Manes of the Burton Group has pointed out that your TC is in need of assistance for publishing your WSDL's and tModels into UDDI. I'm the secretary of the UDDI Spec TC (formerly the Chair - I stepped down when I resigned from Microsoft in December) and can be of assistance in a number of ways.

First, I can help introduce this work/request to the UDDI Spec TC, and arrange for time to be available to you on the agenda of a TC telecon where you can solicit input and request guidance from interested parties. However, I think that given current the work-load of the TC (and interests) that it will be difficult for you to get much in terms of concrete assistance other than guidance from an interested party if one can be found.

This leads me to the other way in which I may be of assistance. I you (Microsoft) or other companies of the TC would be interested, I can provide consulting services on UDDI to help this work and a set of related activities to come to fruition.

Please let me know if and how you would like to proceed.

( Je prends congé vendredi 9 avril 04 jusqu'à lundi le 12. Je suis disponible aujourd'hui et serai disponible la semaine prochaine à partir de mardi le 13 avril pour discuter de ceci si vous le voulez. )

Cordialement,

Luc Clément

Luc,

See point #3 below. The trans-ws group would like to register their WS standard in UDDI.
