How Squares Pools Work
The Super Bowl Squares Pool is the most popular "office pool.” Here’s why it’s so successful—You need no football knowledge to win! There is a grid of 100 squares: Ten on the X-axis (horizontal), ten of the Y-axis (vertical). Players "pay" for the right to own a square. Each square represents a number from 0-9.
After all squares are filled in the numbers are randomly assigned by our system (before the Super Bowl begins!). You are notified what your numbers are. You sit back, watch the game, cheer on your team—but also have a stake in the action!
The pool (pot) is split into 5 sections, one for each quarter and one for the final score. Once the Super Bowl is played, the final score of each quarter is used to determine each winner. You win part of the pool if your number matches the ending score of that quarter. So, for instance if the half-time score is 28 (Seahawks) -17 (Steelers), then the winner of that quarter would be the owner of the square that intersects the Seahawks at 8 and the Steelers at 7.
Depending on your sense of adventure you can play $5, $10, $20 or $50 squares.
