I'd recommend before doing any XML solution to have a look to
http://www.disa.org/cefact-groups/tbg/wg/tbg1_main.cfm

You'll find there Business Requirement Specification for Cross Industry
Invoice and Cross Industry Remittance Advice.

Those are the business process modelling for both documents.
As soon as they will be approved by the business communities, they should be
"translate" in XML and possibly in UBL.

Don't hesitate to check those documents and send your comments to Freddy De
Vos, TBG1 Chair, who's CC'd.
