Subject: Re: [ubl-dev] is there any need for UBL?

Gerald,

It's a question of scale and depth. If you are ordering
spare parts in the aerospace industry for your A300 -
I would recommend OAGIS.

If you are ordering tins of baked beans from Carrefour -
then UBL is an option.

Also - OAGIS is designed for ERP systems - so you
will find many more transaction sets to do with
warehouse management, shipment and delivery control,
and extended accounting than you will in UBL.

I think now there are around 250 BODs in OAGIS. And
things like TANBAN and IVI deep supplychain relationship
management are in BODs.

That is clearly overkill for many people, if say all you
want to do is run a local hotel or restuarant.

So in deciding whcih to use its very important to
understand your marketplace and what your partners
are doing. And of course you can always choose to
use both if some partners need one format and the
other.
