Subject: Re: [ubl-dev] UBL and GS1 XML
[juha.ikavalko@tieke.fi:] | I got a task to compare UBL and GS1 XML message standards. Are you | able to point out why to prefer one or another in this scenario? | What are the pros and cons for each option? Is there a mapping | available for some messages? What is the relationship between UBL | TC and GS1? Is GS1 participating in UBL work? Hello Juha, I don't know enough about the GS1 schemas to give you a technical comparison; sorry. Perhaps one of the other ubl-dev subscribers can help you out with that part of your question. It would be interesting to find out. I do know that the GS1 set (formerly the UCC set) has not gained a lot of traction in the several years it's been available. I don't know why this is, but certainly the acquisition of RosettaNet by GS1 must have complicated their marketing, as the RN schemas are already used in the supply chains of several very large electronics companies (Intel, Cisco, Sony, etc.). There is no relationship between the UBL TC and GS1, and GS1 does not participate in the UBL work. I tried early in the UBL project to get GS1 (then UCC) interested, but they chose to go in their own direction. Jon
