Subject: A word about customisations and CAM
Greetings fellow UBL developers and interested parties I hope folk don't mind me harping on again about the technologies to use for customisations and adjuncts for UBL. I just put a package together for release for the SystML2 subset for UBL 2 (released under GPL 2 license on sourceForge.org) - plug, plug - http://downloads.sourceforge.net/xforms4ubl/SystML2.zip and I note that it is still all formally declared in W3C XML Schema (XSD) which isn't really right for the task still. I note some excellently worded slides from David RR Webber (hope David doesn't mind me referring to these) at http://www.pesc.org/Events/TechStandards/Fourth/presentations/Scalable%20PESC%20Transaction-Handling%20Using%20OASIS%20CAM.ppt - especailly useful being the slide about limitations in XSD in relation to customisations, adjunct files like codelists and so on. Maybe we might just stick to Schematron for the extra requirements, but it might be better to use something purpose-built like CAM (which is about to go to OASIS ballot for standardisation it seems). What I'd really like to see to accompany CAM though is a tool which creates everything in CAM that is in a particular XSD schema (like the SystML2 ones or the full UBL 2 ones) or set of schemas. If the full UBL schemas were generated again as CAM then I could pare that down to make a subset and add the codelists as needed. Just a thought. :-) -- Stephen Green Partner SystML, http://www.systml.co.uk Tel: +44 (0) 117 9541606 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew+22:37 .. and voice
