UBL-ISC FAQ

1. I am thinking of writing a prototype web service to accept an order. This is a front end to an existing system that I don't want to reengineer. I cannot use a lot of the optional information that could be sent to me under UBL. Given that I care about only one third of the fields in the standard, how should I deal with restricting what I can accept?
2. Is the code to convert the spreadsheets to XSD publicly available?  
3. Is there documentation on how to set up the spreadsheets?
4. What are some of the limitations?  
        (for example, is 'xsd:choice'/'xsd:all' supported?)
5. Is the transform from XSD to UML publicly available?  
6. Is it automated? How much manual effort was applied to the UML
models?
7. Is round tripping supported?
8. We noticed that a "Property Term Possessives" column appears in the UBL 1.0B spreadsheets, but not in CCTS v2.01 or UBL documentation
9. Are "Property Term Possessives" formally part of any spec at this point?
10. Will the term appear in the formal documentation?
11. Between using a Property Qualifer Term and a Property Term Possessive, what difference is there in the resultant UBL name? In other words, how does the Possessive impact the result differently from a Qualifer?
12. In this frag from UBL-Reusable*.xls, how are "Postal Zone" and "City Name" different with regard to Property Term? That is, why does the former have a  Property Qualifer Term and the latter a Property Term Possessive?
13. CCTS v2.01 refers to the "Core Component Catalogue" in section 6.1.5 (p.57).
14. Is there someplace where I can actually obtain this catalogue?
15. If a Core Component Dictionary Entry Name such as "Birth. Date" does not appear in the UBL Reusables (UBL-Reusable-1.0-beta.xsd), does that just mean that UBL has no need for that particular Core Component?
16. We have need of the Message Assembly doc and Core Components Primer referenced in sec. 4.2 of CCTS v2.01. Does anyone know when these documents will be available to match UBL 1.0 > (Beta or final)?
17. Could you tell me, why the TaxScheme is mandatory in the InvoiceLine/Item/TaxCategory ?? This tag is mandatory, but all of his fields are conditional.

19. How I can indicate that the unit of measurement of an item is units of product?

For example:

Kilograms --> KG
Liters    --> LTR
Units     --> ???
20. If I read the schema correctly, the UBL XSD doesn't intend to constrain the length of the string values (e.g. the length/max-length/min-length of the Text-CCT-based BIE). Is there any design philosophy behind this? EDI has defined different lengths such as 17, 35, 70, 210 characters. I understand the use of XML should give more flexibility than EDI. Yet for the practical reason of software implementation, such as validation against unintentional and intentional errors, we may need to set restrictions on the data lengths. Do you have any recommendation on this issue?
21. where can I find a list or similar of the governments or public institutions ina ny country interested in UBL implementation? I'm also interested in a list of big companies (SUN, IBM, ...) working with UBL. Where cam I find this kind of information? 
22. I'd like to know where do I have to address myself to find a practical example of some parts of the UBL 1.0 standard. I'm developing an Invoice XSD based on your specification and I don't know the real meaning of some elements, or in which cases they can be used.
