OASIS News 27 January 2003 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments and activities for the XML interoperability consortium. --------------------------------------------------------- UBL Schemas Released for Public Review The first draft of a royalty-free data representation standard for electronic commerce has been released by the OASIS Universal Business Language (UBL) Technical Committee. Intended to become international standards for electronic trade, the UBL schemas contained in the review package specify machine-readable XML representations of familiar business documents. Together, they can be used to implement a generic buy/sell relationship or supply chain whose components fit existing trade agreements and are immediately understandable by workers in business, supply-chain management, EDI, accounting, customs, taxation, and shipping. The UBL release can be found at http://oasis-open.org/committees/ubl/lcsc/0p70/. A zip file containing the entire review set packaged for local installation can be downloaded from http://oasis-open.org/committees/ubl/lcsc/0p70/UBL0p70.zip. Interested parties are invited to comment on this release directly to the OASIS UBL Library Content Subcommittee Editor, Bill Meadows (bill.meadows@sun.com), using the feedback form at http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ubl/lcsc/0p70/UBL_Comment-0p1.rtf The deadline for submitting comments is Monday, 14 April 2003. --------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Holds Annual General Members Meeting, 4 March Plan now to attend the OASIS Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, 4 March in Santa Clara, California. The OASIS Board will review the Consortium's growth and accomplishments from 2002. This year, members are asked to pre-submit questions, concerns, or issues that you would like the Board to address at the meeting. Suggestions may be made whether or not you will be able to attend the AGM, and we will post the QA compilation on the OASIS website following the event. Please email suggestions to dee.schur@oasis-open.org. An OASIS reception will follow the AGM. Sponsorship opportunities are available for corporate members who would like to host the reception.
