Hi Tim

 

We do have to be very careful of terms across trade, transport and operations, of course. TBG3 have spent a great deal of time compiling a set of trade/transport terms and definitions which have been submitted to TBG17 as candidate CV entries. Terms such as Acceptance, Receipt, Despatch (BTW Mike was determined that the term should be despatch not dispatch!), Collection, Pick-up, Delivery etc. mean different things to different actors and in different environments.

 

I do prefer Delivery over Receipt as that is a more widely shared term between trade and transport for this concept.

 

I am attaching a TBG3 document which presents some key role definitions and some key terms. I hope that this is helpful.

i agree with Sue 
about Send From becoming Despatch (or Dispatch)  but i prefer Receival to 
Delivery (or maybe Receipt).  I am more familiar with Dispatch/Receipt for 
container arrivals at wharves.

NB we inherited Despatch Advice from 
CEFACT but the more common spelling is Dispatch.

We can deal with these 
on tuesday call.
