Information Society Development Centre has made an examination how the
Waybill fulfils the needs of the Finnish transportation industry.
library lacks two important elements urgently needed on this sector:
There is a need for an InvoiceeParty. It’s not always a
Consignee or a Consignor which will be invoiced. This is common in Finland
also in international transport. This is quite common in
cases where the process owner wants to steer the supply chain by using
contracts and partners for transportation.
There is a need for party-specific references. This need
relates to the most of the messages used in Finland.
For example, in a waybill
there should be a place for a consignor’s, consignee’s and
invoicee’s reference. We see that this problem could be solved by
a generic reference (BBIE or ASBIE) to the Party ABIE and to a header
RFF segment was used for this purpose in EDIFACT.
