MINUTES of UBL-TSC Meeting

 

1000 – 1200 SGT, Thursday, 28 September 2006

 

Attendance:

Kama              - UBL TSC Chair

Tim Mcgrath                  - UBL TC Vice-Chair

Andrew Schoka     - UBL TSC member

Michael Onder               - US DOT

 

Item Discussed

 

1. Status of PRD3 package

- Tim updated that the TC is putting together the entire package for OASIS submission

- The package is now in middle of 3rd public review

- UBL TC has received a few comments, mostly definition in library & some technical issue relating to namespace and are making the changes

- The package will be finalized on the day review is finished. This is Oct 4 2006. There will be a 7-days ballot. The final package will be submitted to OASIS on Oct 11 2006.

- OASIS processing is expected to take about 4-6 weeks

- There is no further work for TSC as far as the final package is concerned

 

2. Sample documents

- Both Andy and Kama had sent the transport status and CoO sample XML files respectively.

- Tim will send the Transport status code in genericode format, which contains all permissible values

- It was suggested that the overall scenario and sample XML files for the various documents be discussed and done in the next UBL plenary in Singapore

 

3. UBL Plenary in Singapore

- Kama mentioned that the UBL plenary in Singapore is confirmed from 6 – 10 November 2006

- Kama updated that CrimsonLogic/ITSC is currently preparing the event information document and will be sent the following week (this week)

- Tim updated that a UBL international conference will be held in Denmark after the Singapore plenary meeting

 

4. Report on APEC Symposium on paperless trade

- Tim updated that APEC has a subcommittee called Electronic Commerce SubCommittee on Paperless trade

- Paperless trade is the equivalent of international trade and transport

- The meeting was held in Vietnam. Among the speakers, Tim spoke on UBL and Gordon Craig spoke on UNeDocs

- Tim updated that there has been an increase of between 3% - 25% in terms of electronic readiness amongst the Asia Pacific economies

 

5. UNCEFACT related activities

- Tim updated that the UBL PSC is trying to do an alignment with the TBG1-cross sector invoice. UBL PSC is of the opinion that the cross-sector invoice can be seen as a specific implementation of UBL’s invoice

- UN/CEFACT is currently creating a global semantic framework. This can be seen as an invitation to all other standards organization to contribute to it.

- FMG is defining a process to allow other standards organization an entry point to UNCEFACT forum

- Michael updated that US DOT will continue to use UBL 2.0 for its test

 

Action Item

- Tim will send the Transport status code in genericode format, which contains all permissible values

- Kama to send the Singapore plenary event information document to UBL TC the following week (this week)
