STANDING ITEMS

   Calendar review: http://ibiblio.org/bosak/ubl/calendar.htm

No new items, but note that neither TM nor TL will be
available for the ebXML Asia Committee meeting 27-29
      October.

   Event reports (see calendar)

      None.

   Liaison reports

Tax XML Liaison Team: SW is in the process of scheduling a
conference call for the week of 10/25 that will be reported
at the TC meeting in Santa Clara. Four people from the Tax
XML TC have volunteered to participate, including the chair
      of the U.S. XBRL group.

   HISC report

GKH: Nothing new; has not heard from Fabio and has not yet
implemented the proposed new meeting schedule.

[SSC report: covered as part of EDIFIX discussion]

   TBG17 Liaison Team report

EDIFIX (EF) DISCUSSION

TM: From the UBL customizer's point of view, the primary
interface will still be the spreadsheets. The use of EF will
be primarily for two purposes: 1. to hold the definitive copy
of the UBL library, so all future development of UBL will have
to filter into that; and 2. to generate schemas from the
definitive model, which means that within the UBL TC there will
need to be a custodian/librarian to maintain it, including the
shipping in and out of spreadsheets as required.

JB: The normative pieces will still have to be the schemas and
the generated spreadsheets; the internal format is proprietary.

TM: The published things will all be generated by the tool, so
there will never be the possibility that the spreadsheets will
   differ from the schemas.

Agreed: Gating factors for using the tool include (1) ensuring
a guaranteed concordance between the generated schemas and the
generated spreadsheets and (2) continued ability to support
input spreadsheets. The round-tripping exercise suggested by
MD is necessary to establish this. GEFEG will try to honor
requests for enhancements to the input spreadsheets, but we
can't expect total support for any arbitrary change that might
   occur to us.

Agreed: We can accept the proposal to use EF for UBL 1.1.

OTHER ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION THIS MEETING

UBL TC meeting in Santa Clara

Add to agenda: Spreadsheet alignment and EF familiarization

Add to agenda: Request for participation from HISC

Attendance in person and by phone: Already noted that TM and
GKH can't attend. Try to schedule some plenary sessions for
dial-in from Asia starting around 4 p.m. in Santa Clara.
[Actually, the morning time requested for this in Asia would
be 3 p.m. in Santa Clara, because the U.S. will be reverting
to Standard Time the morning before the meeting begins.]

Addition of new items to the work list

      None.

   Other business

In accordance with the decision to skip the 27 October
Atlantic call and in recognition of two meetings in Asia
that will occupy the attention of several Pacific call
participants that week, we will skip the 28 October Pacific
      call as well.

TM and GKH will not be available for the 21 October call,
but JB will attempt a short meeting anyway. Anyone needing
to check in from Asia-Pacific should dial in at the
beginning so that the meeting can end early if possible.

Chair, OASIS UBL TC
