Subject: Guidance on Rec 20 and Rec 21 code lists, and code lists in general
Fellow UBL TC members, Andy pointed me to the latest UN/CEFACT upload of some code lists (thank you!): >From: Tauno Kangur <Tauno.Kangur@unece.org> >Date: Wed, Nov 14, 2012 at 5:56 AM>Subject: [UNCEFACT-HOD - 558] UN/EDIFACT directory D12.B released >and Recommendations 20, 21 and 23 code lists revised
>To: UNCEFACT-HOD@lists.unece.org >... >Last week also revised code lists of Recommendations 20, 21 and 23 were >published. They can be accessed via >http://www.unece.org/cefact/recommendations/rec_index.html We don't have Rec 23 in the UBL distribution, so I'll let that update pass. We do have Rec 20 Units of Measure (2010) and Rec 21 Packaging (2009) in PRD2: http://docs.oasis-open.org/ubl/prd2-UBL-2.1/cl/gc/default/UnitOfMeasureCode-2.1.gc http://docs.oasis-open.org/ubl/prd2-UBL-2.1/cl/gc/default/PackagingTypeCode-2.1.gc I will update these with 2012 versions from the downloaded ZIP files: http://www.unece.org/fileadmin/DAM/cefact/recommendations/rec20/rec20_Rev8e_2012.xls http://www.unece.org/fileadmin/DAM/cefact/recommendations/rec21/rec21_Rev9e_2012.xlsThis adds a column to Rec 21 to include a description for some of the constructs.
Looking at the ZIP file for Rec 20, I'm assuming that the code list is the information in the tab "Annex II & Annex III". I will add the columns for symbol and level/category as well.
Please advise if anyone thinks this is misguided. Also, please let me know if you are in a position to take on the responsibility for identifying and creating the genericode for code lists for UBL (and I can help you with the mechanics if you need; I think I can reduce the task to creating a CSV file). Having now taken on Jon's tasks (hub document and committee meetings) in addition to the SGTG tasks I already have, it would help me to delegate the code list identification and management to another UBL team member.
Thank you for any assistance that anyone can dedicate to these tasks. . . . . . . . . . .
