I have incorporated the new definitions into the UBL 2.1 document schemas based on:

Except for the problems identified below, you can find the draft of the proposed UBL 2.1 definitions for all models here:

  http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/47805/#Summary

... or for PSC models only here:

Note that I have hyperlinked directly to the summary table, as this appears to be the most productive method by which the definitions can be reviewed. Plus, it groups all definitions for the same BBIE in one place for easy comparison.

Please spot check the definitions for those you know you've changed. You needn't check all, because if I've got some of them incorporated I likely have all of them incorporated.

The following 8 DENs have not (yet) been changed because of a discrepancy between what the definition file said was the "old" content and what is found existing in the database (marked as "existing" below). Someone has changed the database while the definitions were being worked on.

While some look straightforward, I ask that someone please arbitrate for each of these whether the "new" definition is still to be used as the new definition or not.

It is used for any mode of transport. A Bill of Lading can serve as a contractual document between the parties for the transportation service. The document evidences a contract of carriage by sea and the acceptance of responsibility for the goods by the carrier, and by which the carrier undertakes to deliver the goods against surrender of the document. A provision in the document that the goods are to be delivered to the order of a named person, or to order, or to bearer, constitutes such an undertaking. new: A document issued by the party who acts as an agent for a transportation carrier or other agents to the party who gives instructions for the transportation services (shipper, consignor, etc.) stating the details of the transportation, charges, and terms and conditions under which the transportation service is provided.
