Kees Duvekot commented on UBL-1:

Tim,

The "Advanced Shipment Notice" is a term that is also used as an DespatchAdvice, so I think we need a new document, and I also think we need to have two distinct documents. One for the communication between the BuyerParty and the DeliveryParty informing them about any possible future shipment they can expect. And a separate document between the SellerParty and DespatchParty requesting the DespatchParty to start preparing the Despatch.

I would call the first one a "ReceiptOrder" where you give the DeliveryParty an order to start receiving goods on your behalve. And the communication between the SellerParty and the DespatchParty would be a "DespatchOrder" ordering the DespatchParty to despatch goods.

You can also argue that the original Buyerparty does not have to know that the seller party is using a outsourced despatch party. I would let the flow of document exchange not take place directly between the DespatchParty and the DeliveryParty. So that would mean that the DespatchParty is creating a DespatchAdvice that is send only to the SellerParty who is turn is sending this to the BuyerParty who can then create an (updated) ReceiptOrder with the details (packaging, ID's etc etc). When the DeliveryParty is physically receiving the goods they will send an ReceiptAdvice to the BuyerParty who in turn can send that on to the SellerParty.
