Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (UBL-174) Experimental extensible ABIEs

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/UBL-174?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=69249#comment-69249 ]

Martin Forsberg commented on UBL-174:
-------------------------------------

I think Roberto's idea definately has merits. It is similar to the AttributeProperty value pairs which are commonly used to "extend" Item. It is pretty straight forward to use and doesn't require definition of new XML-elements. However, it also doesn't meet some of the requirements that we discussed at the F2F in january. The use cases that I have come into contact with have several examples of slightly more complex structures such as repeatable code+value pairs. They want to define schematron rules and xsd:s for validation. Also many users I've talked find the top-level extension hard to use and particularly hard to explain and document to developers.

So I still think that an initial extension in each ABIE is a pretty clear and elegant solution.

> A set of UBL 2.1 schemas with individually extensible ABIEs is found here:
> In the "val/" directory you will find order-test-good.xml that has a custom extension at the line item level. Running "test.bat" or "sh test.sh" validates the document.
> The "xsd/" and "xsdrt/" are as expected, except that the Aggregates fragment now allows <ext:UBLExtensions> on every ABIE.
