Subject: RE: [uddi-dev] ebXML registry and UDDI comparisons
Great. Thanks. Feel free to be as
speculative as you like. My speculation has better odds though. I take it Systinet
has no plans to adopt a dual registry approach in the near future? Interesting comments from your VP of
marketing here: David Butler, VP of marketing at Systinet, says: "What we've
learnt is that UDDI is not everything. UDDI is necessary but insufficient. A
registry without UDDI is not going to work in an SOA. But where it lacks is the
ability to map the business into the overall SOA model." http://www.looselycoupled.com/stories/2005/registry-infr0131.html Fujitsu? http://www.uddi.org/solutions.html webMethods? http://www.redmonk.com/jgovernor/archives/000759.html From:
Luc Clement [mailto:luc.clement@systinet.com] “likely to
follow” is entirely speculative on your part. Let me be equally
speculative: “no others will”. From:
Governor James [mailto:jgovernor@redmonk.com] Sun already supports a dual registry
strategy, as does infravio. Others are likely to follow, WS-I fud
notwithstanding. Coexistence is surely the best approach. From:
Jørgen Thyme [mailto:jt@globeteam.com] I have looked at the specs for v3 for the ebXML registry.
Although the information model looks more detailed than in UDDI my immediate
thinking was that adding my taxonomies in UDDI I can achieve a lot. And there
are several implementations of UDDI. What are your thoughts? Will vendors of UDDI registries add
ebXML registry functionality to their existing products? Or will there be a
complete new set of registry products coming? Best regards / Med
