Title: ISO/ITU/IEC/UN-ECE MoU recommendations

Arun, Toufic and myself took an action item to review the ISO/ITU/IEC/UN-ECE MoU appendix sent out be Karl Best (http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/chairs/200212/msg00002.html.recommendations) and to propose recommendations if and how to mention the work done by the UDDI Specification TC.

All in all, no major updates are necessary as far as UDDI is concerned.

UDDI

• does not directly cover any of the areas listed in attachments 1 and 2 - no update necessary
• should either be listed in a new section "Web services" within the list of new areas (attachment 3) or be included in the existing area of "Metadata registries" - I prefer the latter since UDDI may also be applied to EDI-based scenarios and thus makes more sense to be part of the MoU

Thus, we propose to add some text to attachment 3 as follows.

• Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/uddi-spec/

UDDI's publication and discovery mechanisms can be applied to a number of application integration technologies, including, but not limited to, EDI-based business-to-business scenarios. The development of best practices for the application of UDDI to electronic business belongs to the scope of OASIS's UDDI Specification Technical Committee.
