All,
Here is the update for UOML IPR Policy Changing Issue.
On last week's Beijing 2007 Open Standards International Convention,
most of Oasis's board members had came to Beijing, so we got a very
good chance to know them, and also had some deep discussions with them about
UOML TC's IPR Policy Changing process.
According the talk with James Clark, Eduardo Gutentag, and Patrick
Durusau, following are the couple of steps we need to do:
1. Re-charter: We need to modify our charter, mainly to change the IPR
part from RAND to RF on RAND.
2. UOML TC will vote on the new Charter.
3. Annouce our decision.
4. OASIS will contact the UOML TC particated companies, and make sure
they also vote yes.
5. That is it. We can continue our work, and in the proper time go to
public review.
Here is something for each member to do: Please double check our
current charter, see if there is anything besides IPR mode we like to
change/add, now it's a good time to do so. We can discuss them at our
TC meeting which should be arranged in couple of days.
Thanks.
