Subject: Re: [user-assistance-discuss] Announcing the user-assistance-discuss mailing list
/ "Paul Prescod" <paul.prescod@xmetal.com> was heard to say: | The sorts of specialized issues that a User Assistance Markup Language | would cover are: | | * callouts and other annotations for screenshots | * semantic elements for field definitions | * context sensitivity | * bidirectional interactions between content and program features | | Discussion of issues like this will start on May 1st. People who come to | the discussion late may catch up by consulting the archives.[2] Please tell me you have DocBook (or perhaps a DocBook customization) in mind for the markup part of this project. DocBook already supports callouts and includes the markup you need for GUI fields. I'm not sure how you imagine standardizing context sensitivity or interaction with the application. Maybe you could sketch out what you're thinking? Be seeing you, norm -- Norman Walsh XML Standards Architect Sun Microsystems, Inc.
