Subject: BRSP update

All:

We have not met for a while, and to be frank there was not much need for it.

Now, at the latest WS-I Steering Committee meeting (November 4)  the results of a survey regarding use of SHAH 256 were discussed.

Oracle stated that FIPs 127 no longer allows SHAH 1, so they have upgraded their products to 256 . There was clear support from others in the SC for upgrading BSP 1.1 to SHAH256.

So the Steering Committee felt that the BRSP TC should do the upgrade. The issue now are resources to do so. Personally, I think the upgrade on the CS is not much effort, if we do not bundle with it an upgrade on test tools (unlike in former WS-I, OASIS is not bound to produce test tools for all the profiles). But we need enough participants to join in the effort.

Those of you who have WS-I SC representation, could you check with your management (your company is in support of the upgrade!) if it would put resources in doing this?

I would like to schedule a BRSP meeting to discuss this, tentative Thu Jan 18th, 11amPT. Let me know if that works.

Again, I do not foresee any difficulty on the CS upgrade, but it would mean something like a few months of more frequent meetings.

The next Steering Committee meeting in 10 February 2017.

Thanks,

-jacques
