Subject: Re: Comment: Version 1.1 Public Review Draft 01

Dear Stephen,

Thank you for submitting your comment on Public Review Draft 01 of the WS-DD specifications. Your comment was logged as issue number PR001, and discussed at the most recent WS-DD TC teleconference.

To address your comment, we reviewed the OASIS TC Process at http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/process.php, and consulted with the TC Administrator. Based on that review and consultation, we have reaffirmed our previous conclusion that the OASIS process permits technical committees to use any editable source format that meets the needs of the participants. The TC selected the .docx format at its first meeting last September. The availability of freely-downloadable converters that allow the .docx format to be directly used by previous versions of Word has enabled all participants to work with the source documents, and there have been no problems reported with this mechanism. Based on these considerations, the TC did not accept the issue.

Thanks again for reviewing the documents.

Best regards,

Toby Nixon

Co-chair, OASIS WS-DD TC

Re: Web Services Dynamic Discovery (WS-Discovery) Version 1.1 Public Review Draft 01

This is the first time I've seen a public review draft involving a .docx file as the editable source. Personally I'd just like to voice an objection to using this file format for what this particular public review draft calls the 'Authoritative Format' - because 1. there are few tools which can read this format and because 2. the OASIS-open Process http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/process-2008-06-19.php requires, as far as I read it, either .doc or .odt for the editable source.
