Subject: Issue 014 - Locating the services by Binding
This issue is assigned the number
014. For further discussions on this issue, please refer to this issue number
or use this thread. From: Vipul Modi Please defer discussions on this issue until a time this
issue is accepted and is assigned a number. Description: In the current specification the Probe message allows the
clients to locate Target Service by Types (WSDL portType [WSDL 1.1]) and
Scopes. The Types (portType) defines “what” for a web service endpoint; what
kind of data is communicated by the service. The Binding (WSDL Binding [WSDL
1.1]) defines “how” part for a web service endpoint. It is often necessary to
locate the service endpoint that support say, “SOAP http” binding. Like
locating the service by Type, the protocol needs to support locating services
by Binding. Proposed Resolution: The portType name in the WSDL identifies the operations,
messages and message parts supported by the service endpoint. Similarly a
Binding name in the WSDL identifies the transports, encoding and policies used
by the service endpoint. Probe message in addition to the Types and Scope would
include Binding (name). The Binding (name) would be an additional metadata
included by the service when it sends a Hello, ProbeMatch or ResolveMatch
message. Attached is the “wsdd-discovery-1.0-spec-wd-01” document
with change markers. Vipul |
