Document: DPWS Location (defaults to line number): 1431 Owner: Antoine Mensch Description: the APP_MAX_DELAY has been set to 5000 ms. However, default firewalls on popular platforms such as Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista filter out responses to multicast requests after 3 and 4 seconds. This means that clients running on those platforms will fail to discover devices from times to times. Our workaround has been to reduce the APP_MAX_DELAY to 2500 ms. When DPWS becomes a standard, we should expect firewalls to adjust their behavior to the standard, but until then, it is an important issue. Proposed resolution: Either reduce APP_MAX_DELAY or modify default behavior of Windows firewalls
