Subject: Issue 057 - DPWS - clearly define how HOSTED SERVICES types areexposed by the device in the discovery messages
This issue is assigned the number 057. For further
discussions on this issue, please refer to this issue number or use this
thread. From: Alain Regnier
[mailto:alain@ricoh-tech.com] Please defer discussions on this issue until a time this
issue is accepted and is assigned a number. Description: Currently, the way HOSTED SERVICES types are exposed by the
device in its WS-Discovery message is not “official”. In the WS-Printer
specification, an appendix mentions how to do it (putting
“wprt:PrinterDeviceType” in the list of ws-discovery types exposed) This mechanism could be clearly explained in DPWS as other
type of services would probably do the same. Otherwise, something could be mentioned in DPWS such as:
“HOSTED SERVICE may define a type which is to be exposed to clients of the
DEVICE through WS-Discovery, by a mean that is outside the scope of this
specification” Proposed Resolution: Discuss and update document. |
