Subject: [Updated] NEW Issue - WS-Discovery - Clarify meaning of
"device joining the network"
Document: WS-Discovery CD1
Line: 508-510
Owner: Antoine Mensch
Description:
Section 4.1.1 says:
A Target Service MUST send a one-way
Hello when any of the following occur:
· It joins a network.
This may be detected through low-level mechanisms, such as wireless beacons, or
through a change in IP connectivity on one or more of its network interfaces.
· Its metadata changes
(see /s:Envelope/s:Body/*/d:MetadataVersion above).
The notions of "joining the network" and "change in IP
connectivity" are fuzzy, so it is not clear for instance if a change of IP
address should generate a new Hello message.
Proposed resolution (changes in red):
A Target Service MUST send a
one-way Hello when any of the following occur:
· It presents to the network
one or several new transport addresses. This may be detected through low-level mechanisms,
such as wireless beacons, or through a change in IP connectivity on one or more
of its network interfaces.
· Its metadata changes
(see /s:Envelope/s:Body/*/d:MetadataVersion above).
