Subject: RE: [ws-dd] Issue 147 - DPWS - Clarification on accepting unicast Probe
Following is a proposal resolution for issue 147 resulting from the multiple discussions that took place over the last few weeks.
The following requirement would be added at the end of R6001
"A DEVICE MAY also listen for Directed Probes at http://<host address>:3702/"

Please defer discussions on this issue until a time this issue is accepted and is assigned a number.
Description: DPWS now requires (MUST) a device to support receiving a directed Probe over HTTP at any HTTP addresses where the device endpoint is available. Shouldn't we also define a WELL KNOWN port/uri combination where a device would accept a directed Probe? This would allow to kickstart a full DPWS conversation knowing only the ip address of the device, as there are many different ways (proprietary, dns, directory based...) to get the ip address of a device.
(this issue is related to issue 27 previously submitted against WS-Discovery) Proposed Resolution: Clarify in the specification |
