Subject: Final approval packages submitted; Thanks!; May 19 call cancelled;JIRA

Dear TC Members:

As you’ve seen in your email, the WS-DD Committee Specifications were approved unanimously. The CS-01 versions have been provided to the TC Administrator for posting on docs.oasis-open.org. The final approval requests have been submitted to the TC Administrator, who has acknowledged that they were received before today’s deadline for inclusion with specifications that will be considered by OASIS for final approval during the month of June.

THANK YOU for all your hard work in making this happen! We especially thank the specification editors: Dan Driscoll, Antoine Mensch, Vipul Modi, Devon Kemp, and Ram Jeyaraman. Thanks to Ram for also serving as Issues List editor, and keeping up with all of the issue submissions and TC decisions (and congratulations again on your marriage!). Thanks to Geoff Bullen for serving as TC Secretary, providing the minutes of our meetings on a timely basis and also tracking the attendance, voting membership, and action items. Thanks to Mike Kaiser for keeping us on track with the process. Thanks to Microsoft, Software AG (Prasad Yendluri) and Canon (Devon Kemp) for hosting our face-to-face meetings. Thanks to Microsoft, Schneider Electric, Canon, University of Rostock, and University of Dortmund for preparing implementations and providing statements of use, and to all the others who also participated in our interop events. Thanks to all of you who submitted issues and comments, who helped resolve the issues and comments, who reviewed documents, and who participated in any other way. And special thanks to Mary McRae, the OASIS TC Administrator, for supporting our work through this process and exceeding the SLA when needed to keep things moving along!

In recognition of the hard work done and to give us all a bit of a breather, we have decided to cancel the TC teleconference on May 19. We will return to weekly teleconferences on May 26. It’s been suggested that we have a face-to-face meeting to kick off the work on the 1.2 specifications and the white papers; we’ll discuss that proposal on the May 26 call, and if it is supported, consider possible dates and locations for such a meeting.

You’ll recall that a few months back OASIS deployed the Atlassian JIRA issue-tracking database and made it available to all TCs (see http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/secure/Dashboard.jspa). WS-DD decided to not switch to using JIRA at that point to avoid disrupting our work in progress. Now that we’re (almost, nearly!) done with v1.1, it seems like this would be a good time to switch to using JIRA to track issues for v1.2. We’ve asked Mary to go ahead and set up a WS-DD project in the OASIS JIRA system. There’s extensive online documentation at http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/latest/introduction.html; you may want to take a little time this coming week (maybe in that Tuesday morning time slot you now have free) to look it over.

Best regards,

Toby Nixon
