Subject: Results of poll on face-to-face meeting attendance and preferences
The
ballots regarding the proposed face-to-face meeting in July concluded last
Friday evening. We
currently have 14 voting TC members, so we need 8 attendees to have a quorum to
conduct business at a meeting. Of
the 14 voting members, 9 voted on the ballots, plus 2 members who are not
currently voting members, for a total of 11 votes. The
results of the ballots were as follows: For each location, would you attend in
person, participate by teleconference, or not participate: Rostock: Attend in person 2, participate by
teleconference 2, not participate 7 Irvine: Attend in person 3, participate by teleconference
5, not participate 3 Redmond: Attend in person 6, participate by
teleconference 4, not participate 1 On the fourth ballot, regarding preference
between the locations, the voting was Rostock 3, Irvine 3, Redmond 4. From
this, I conclude that we would not achieve quorum in Rostock. We would not have
a quorum present in person in either Irvine or Redmond, but when including
participation by teleconference, we would have quorum in Irvine (8) or Redmond
(10). The location preference is Redmond (by one vote). The
proposal is thus to have the face-to-face meeting in Redmond, July 14-16. Any
thoughts or discussion on this? Should we go ahead with this plan, so that
those who plan to attend in person can make travel arrangements and the hosts
can make logistical arrangements? Will we have critical mass at the meeting to
make some decisions and move the work forward? --
