Subject: Groups - New Action Item #0134 Draft details of supporting rela...

OASIS Web Services Discovery and Web Services Devices Profile (WS-DD) TC member,

Mr. Devon Kemp has created a new action item.

Number: #0134
Description: Draft details of supporting rela...
Owner: Antoine Mensch
Due: 15 Sep 2009

Comments:
Mr. Devon Kemp 2009-08-27 20:41 GMT
from the July 15th meeting minutes:
WSDD-4: Support relative URLs for hosted services. Discussed scenarios and requirements. Key issue is to be able to advertise new IP addresses without incrementing metadata version every time, which is currently an efficiency problem. Metadata could be static except for IP addresses. Discussed inconsistency of transport addresses being covered by metadata version for devices and hosted services. Problem is that relative URLs are not permitted in EPRs, so need alternative proposals. Proposed to change issue title to Remove dependency on device transport address from device metadata so that specific solution is not proposed in title; this was applied. Problem could be solved by using DNS addresses, but many device scenarios do not support DNS. Could extend EPR to introduce a new element that includes relative URI, inside DPWS Hosted Service metadata. Antoine will draft details of proposed resolution.
