Subject: RE: [ws-i-ms] RE: NIEM NTE submission
Ram, Dee mentioned the federal participation at the NIEM NTE. There is also a lot of participation by state and local government and their suppliers. Many of these organizations are interested in learning more about and contributing to the NIEM, the Global Reference Architecture (GRA) and web services standards. In addition, one of the topics I plan to discuss is the possibility of taking some of the NIEM and GRA specifications, many of which leverage WS-I standards, through the standards process themselves. Does that help? Jim Cabral Helping our clients make a difference in the lives of the people they serve. From: Dee Schur [mailto:dee.schur@oasis-open.org] Hi Ram, This event is unique in that the sole purpose of the event is to drive the National Information Exchange Model, a US government initiative ‘to develop, disseminate and support enterprise-wide information exchange standards and processes that can enable jurisdictions to effectively share critical information in emergency situations, as well as support the day-to-day operations of agencies throughout the nation.’ The event is heavily attended by US government folks, support agencies, federal contractors, etc. I don’t know numbers but it is a significant federal event. OASIS LegalXML and Emergency Management has participated in the past and found the event to be supportive of their work. Thank you for your interest – let me know if you would like to become involved in the panel. dee Dee Schur, Senior Manager - Standards Advocate From: Ram Jeyaraman [mailto:Ram.Jeyaraman@microsoft.com] Does anyone know the headcount and the demographics of the audience? Thanks. From: Dee Schur [mailto:dee.schur@oasis-open.org] Thanks Jim – we will definitely have a WS-I representative on board. Dee Dee Schur, Senior Manager - Standards Advocate From: James E Cabral [mailto:jcabral@mtgmc.com] David and Don, Thanks for volunteering to represent the eGov and Emergency Interoperability Member Sections on this panel. I incorporated some suggested revisions from David and am submitting this proposal to the NIEM PMO now. We will identify the representative from WS-I later. This should be a great panel. Thanks! Not sure how we proceed from here, ie who submits the form? Or do each of the MSs have to submit their own version? John From: David RR Webber (XML) [mailto:david@drrw.info] John, I revised Jim's piece - made it more NIEM-centric - to increase chances they will take it. I'm thinking the TGF work will be high interest in the new column, along with power grid work. And for other work - we can report on outcomes with EDXL, CAP, etc. They ask for 3 panelists - so I'd be happy to be one - with Jim and if Joe's available. If we need more sure we can find that once session is selected. You need to send this in to: NIEMPMO@niem.gov on behalf of eGov member section. BTW - the Court filing idea sounds a good one too - anyone can submit something like that - but suggest individual ones more likely to get accepted if they have government sponsor agreeing to talk too. Thanks, DW |
