Jamie and Scott At the WS-I Member Section Steering Committee meeting this afternoon, the MS discussed the issue of renewing the European Trademark license for WS-I. The Committee felt that protecting the WS-I Trademark is in out best interest and furthermore felt that the expenditure for the renewal would be a good use of a part of the $10,000 in funds earmarked for the WS-I MS per the agreement between WS-I and OASIS. After discussion the following motion was approved by the WS-I Member Section without objection: Motion: Move that the WS-I Member Section approve the expenditure of 1850 Euros to renew the WS-I trademark in Europe for a period of ten years. My understanding is that this expenditure would have to be approved and made via the OASIS Board, so the WS-I Member Section requests that OASIS Board approve such expenditure and direct the payment of the renewal fee. Basically it seeks EUR 1850 for ten years renewal of a WS-I trademark in Europe, currently expiring 1 July 2012. Cost's on the order of ~ US$200/year. Long-term future TM re-registrations do not seem to be part of what our asset transfer arrangement expected or obligated OASIS to maintain or make reserves for. So, in view of its cost, my recommendation to management is to let it lapse. We welcome your feedback.
