I don't think tweaking the definition of gap beyond Webster's is going to assist describing those two conditions in any more meaningful way.

In the absence of a proposal to consider for what the definition of gap would be I stand by closing this one with no action.

In our discussions about PR22 I got the feeling that there were at least
two definitions of gap around.

The situation we were discussing was:
AS 'send's 100 messages to RMS.

RMD receives messages 1-49, 51-80 from the RMS. There is obviously a gap
(msg 50). Now RMD receives message 50. Is there a gap?
