Subject: Re: [ws-sx] Status of the WS-SX TC - time to close?

Thank you for your reply Carlo. While we do not reopen closed TCs, it is always possible to ramp up a new one to take over maintenance of a spec should that be needed.

Given the absence of any other replies, I will assume the TC can be closed. I will proceed with that next week.

Best,

It is hard to gauge some of these dependencies - and with the one that I was mostly aware of - WS-Federation closing, I think the specs in this TC have served their purpose.  I know it is hard, if not almost forbidden (!), to re-open a TC.  I had to do that for addressing in Open Systems Interconnect to resolve a conflict between two different groups based on Token Ring Functional Addressing (remember Token Ring?).

I think it could be closed, but I don't have a good sense of "where used" in potentially active groups that may want a tweak to one or another spec, like Trust.

Members of the WS-SX TC,

I have been reviewing the status of TCs recently. I see that the WS-SX TC has been inactive for quite some time now (since 2013). You certainly have a healthy roster but there's been no activity evident. Do you think the TC is likely to start up work again or is it perhaps time for the TC to close?

There is certainly nothing wrong with declaring victory and wrapping things up. All the TC's work, publications and historical record wills continue to be available on the OASIS web site.

It is not my wish to suggest that any TC close prematurely. However, if you think the work is completed, perhaps it is time for it to close.

Please let me know what you think. If no one objects, I will plan to close the TC next Wednesday, Nov. 23rd.
